taking a break

After a busy few weeks chock full of wedding related tasks, the future mister and I took a much needed break. On Sunday we hit the road with some friends of ours and spent the afternoon in Atlanta watching the Braves and Phillies play! The icing on the cake, though, was a spectacular post-game concert by the Avett Brothers!!

It was so nice to just be able to get out of our apartment and have fun, especially with only 40 days to go! Did you or do you plan to take any "breaks" right before the wedding?

busy, busy

Just some of the wedding related things we've been accomplishing this week:

Met with a potential DJ

Met with the restaurant we want to use for the rehearsal dinner

Got quotes for shuttle services to transport our guests from their hotels to the ceremony/reception site and back again

Printed, cut and packaged table numbers for friend's wedding

Receiving/revising contracts for hotel room blocks

Dropping dresses off to be altered (for our friends' weddings)

Driving to Charlotte to get my e-ring fixed (my setting is loose) and hopefully picking out my band

Wow, just typing all of that exhausts me! But at the same time, it feels incredibly rewarding to keep crossing items off my list. Do you get as excited as I do when crossing stuff off the list?

scandalous

Last week I received an email in my work account advertising a local dance studio. They offer fitness classes, but also adult dance classes such as ballet, tap/jazz, and ballroom. I think the future mister and I might want to take a few ballroom lessons prior to the wedding, so I clicked on over to their website. They didn't have much to offer as far as group classes, but their site showed that they offer private lessons as well.

I continued browsing to see what else they offer and there it was:

Strip Aerobics for Bachelorette Parties
Share the time of your life with your friends while getting in shape and learning some new moves!
Dancefx hosts dance classes for your private event at our studios or at your location based on our popular Strip Aerobics class. For special events, classes are typically 1-2 hours long and include from 5-40 participants. Your class will get a great warm up and work out, and a dance combination to learn that just may make the birthday girl or soon-to-be-bride blush! Strip Aerobics parties are tailored to your favorite songs, props (think scarves, chairs, what ever you want!), and style, and you may BYOB.

Is it weird that I actually think this sounds like fun?? Of course I might need a little of the BYOB first!

When I think of bachelorette parties, I think tiaras and feather boas (which I'm okay with), necklaces, rings and straws showcasing a certain part of the male anatomy, and bar hopping. I've also seen parties where the bride is given a list of things she has to do - have men sign her t-shirt, buy her a drink, serenade her, etc. Just thinking of that kind of stuff makes me break out in a cold sweat. It may be a "bachelorette" party, but I do not consider myself a single gal. I am taken and have been for the past three and a half years. I do not want strange men buying me drinks. But, hey, if that's your cup of tea, I say enjoy it! It's just not for me. I'm not a big bar person anyway, unless there's dancing. I do love to dance! So yea, I kind of think the strip aerobics shin dig sounds like fun.

Would you ever consider doing something like that? What did you do for your bachelorette party?

savor the moment

Sorry for the brief hiatus. Work has been pretty crazy! It is not only the end of the semester, but I have also been covering for a co-worker who's been out since his wife just had their first baby. I did have a three day weekend, though - so that was nice. I indulged on Saturday by staying in my PJs most of the day and reading this:

If you're not a fan of Nora Roberts or mindless romances, this might not be the book for you. But I enjoyed it. This is the third book in her Bride Quartet series (the first two were equally as good!). The series is about four friends who plan weddings together - Mac is the photographer (Vision in White), Emma is the florist (Bed of Roses), Laurel is the baker (Savor the Moment) and Parker is the planner/coordinator (Happy Ever After - out in November). Although the books are extremely predictable, the characters are likable and engaging. If you're a fan of chick lit (like me!), this book (and all the rest) are must reads!

our venue is famous!

Well sort of. I received an email the other day from Epting Events, inviting me to a special showing of Not Since You, one of the only movies filmed in Athens, GA. The movie is about a group of friends who graduated from NYU and are reuniting in Georgia for a friend's wedding. Well guess where the wedding was held?? That's right - The Hill!! It's playing in one of our local theaters until April 15. You better believe I'll be going to see it. Here are some clips for your viewing pleasure:
